The front cover is bound in a deep red or maroon morocco leather a type of high-quality goatskin leather traditionally used for valuable books. The design features a border of three fine gold-pressed lines framing the edges. At the center of the board is a small, complex emblem stamped in gold, composed of interlaced letters or symbols which may be a cipher a decorative monogram or coded symbol representing a person's name or a title. The surface of the leather shows some wear, including scuffing and dark stains, particularly near the spine and the lower edge, indicating the book's long history of use.
