This Tulip, also called Marbre Jaſpis Marble Jasper, is the food of the caterpillar sitting upon it until the end of May; then it changes into a brown pupa; after the passage of fifteen days a moth emerges from it, the upper wings being reddish, and the lower ones with the body gray.
At the bottom of the stem sits a worm that uses the small creatures one calls lice for its food; in the end of May this changes into a bladder; after fourteen days a fly emerges from it, being yellow and black striped, and the eyes red.

Similar green caterpillars, as sitting below on a leaf, have I found on this Tree and fed with those leaves until the 12th of May, when they made a white cocoon and changed into a brown pupa; in the end of May a light brown moth emerged from it as depicted above on the Flower.
This green caterpillar sitting on the Flower changed on the 2nd of May into a brown pupa, and on the 27th of October a brown and white speckled moth emerged from it, as depicted above on the Flower.

This type of worm is called Koorn-worm Corn-worm by the country folk, because it eats the roots of the grain; the body is whitish and naked like cheese-maggots; the head is ocher-yellow; I found them in the Earth in October.
