To prevent this sinking i.e., the accumulation of fluid, one must bleed from the arm, as it is closer to the part where the sinking occurs, for in case one opened it on the foot, one could draw this sinking to the womb, which is already in suffering; furthermore, after the upper parts have been relieved, the bleeding which is done subsequently on the other parts provides greater benefit: but these incidents happen rarely, and when they do occur, it is mainly when the woman is restless and troubled in spirit.
If the flow of blood is so great that life is in danger, and if the woman is several months pregnant, with preparation for labor, which one will be able to know from the aforementioned signs, then one must attempt to deliver her, as it is the only means to preserve Mother and Child.
