In the sight of nature, a well is seen, protected by a sacred seal and covered with the Golden Fleece of Jason. This indicates that the Magisterium the Great Work or Mastery must be signed with a divine seal. Genesis 1:2. This is the seed of nature. This is the knot within the knot.
At the highest point of the arch, the Star of the Magi, sprinkled with stars, shines brightly with two triangles intertwined with each other. It proclaims the mighty works of God. Behold, and you shall see wonders. Revelation 4:1, 6:2, 4, 5.
The columns are marked with the signs of the planets, each decorated with hieroglyphic emblems. They suggest these sayings of the ancient Sages:
I. Flee the world. Its charms lead one away from the straight path of nature into ruinous detours. Proverbs 7:10, 22.
II. Follow nature. Her footsteps are wisdom. Matthew 6:28.
III. Neither add nor subtract. Nature is sufficient for herself to complete her own work. Revelation 21:23.
IV. Virtue is in the middle. Flowers wither in heat and cold, but they flourish in their proper time. 1 Kings 19:11-12.
V. Give a hand to nature. She will receive you in a friendly embrace and enrich you with hundredfold fruits. Genesis 2:15.
VI. Exercise patience. There is no harvest before the harvest time. Ecclesiastes 9:11.
VII. Cultivate piety in silence. God does good in silence. Revelation 21:6-7.
Beware of scorning this wisdom. You punish yourself by rejecting the key to the hidden palace of nature.
A small circular ornament or printer's device is at the bottom center.
