However, it rarely occurs in perfect vegetables, and in animals it occurs almost not at all. At least it does not happen among the perfect animals. The other kind of propagation and multiplication belongs properly to animals. It also occurs in vegetables, but not as much as in animals. Seldom, however, and indeed never without the help of Art Alchemy or human intervention, does it occur among minerals. The causes and circumstances regarding the type of propagation and multiplication in all three kingdoms of nature are very different from each other, as follows:

The I. difference is the distinction of the male and female sex in the animal kingdom, which mate. In the vegetable and mineral kingdoms, where the capacity for mating is lacking, God has given a universal female, which is to be found everywhere, namely the Universal Spirit. Therefore, as many original seeds and individuals as there are in both kingdoms, there are many males, but only a single common female.
