Philo of Alexandria; C.E. Richter (ed.)
English translations of this work exist from another source language, but this specific text has never been translated.
The work 'Philonis Judaei Opera Omnia' edited by C.E. Richter (1828-1830, with 1837 being a common reprint date) is a collection of the works of Philo of Alexandria in the original Greek (with Latin translations often provided in parallel columns in such editions). While the works of Philo of Alexandria have been translated into English many times (most notably in the Loeb Classical Library edition), there is no evidence that this specific 19th-century Greek/Latin critical edition by Richter has ever been translated into English as a whole. The English translations that exist are of the Greek text itself, not of the Richter edition. Therefore, this is a first translation from this specific source text.

Philo of Alexandria turns the clockwork of the universe into a witness for the existence of God. This volume challenges you to confront the problem of evil, the nature of human freedom, and the sharp divide between animal instinct and rational thought.
